โš”๏ธPvP Modes

Gyre's multiplayer is split into two modes, casual and competitive. To start with, only casual PVP will be available while it's being tested for bugs. When casual 1v1 PvP is in a satisfactory state, we'll roll out a beta version of competitive PvP. All PvP modes will take place in various arenas, which can be chosen at the time of match creation.

Casual

Casual PvP multiplayer will feature a number of different configurations in the future, starting with simple 1v1 matches. There are no stakes for playing casual PvP games, its all just for fun.

Competitive

Competitive PvP allows players to stake some GOLD in their match against an opponent, where the winner of the match takes all the GOLD at the end. Gyre itself will take a cut of GOLD from each match (amount is TBD). Because players are risking their own tokens in this mode, it may be unavailable in some jurisdictions. Competitive play will be unavailable until a later date, when the 1v1 PvP mode has been adequately tested in casual play.

Matchmaking & Ranking

Players will have two different ranks; one for casual and one for competitive. The ranking is something a player can show proudly, but it also serves as an indicator of where they fall in the matchmaking system. To be a higher rank, you need to be a higher skilled player in a mode. Gyre aims to have a robust matchmaking system to keep the game fun.
